NYPD: Man Punches 14-year-old Outside Yeshiva, Calls Him “Jew Boy”

May 8, 2018 By Tara Law

A 14-year-old boy was punched outside of a Kew Gardens yeshiva Sunday evening in a potential anti-Semitic attack, police said.

The boy was walking home outside of Yeshivath Shaar Hatorah Grodno, 117-06 84th Ave. around 8 p.m. when he was approached by an unknown white man. The man punched the boy in the face and cursed at him, calling the child a “Jew boy,” police said.

The boy received medical attention at the scene. His face was sore and red from the punch, police say. The police did not state whether the boy was a student at the yeshiva.

The incident was referred to the NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force, which is looking into the assault as a bias incident.

The attack is the second crime reported at the school this week. The Forest Hills Post reported yesterday that the police are searching for a man who broke into the school four times between November and April, stealing hundreds of dollars of cash, change and electronics.

Administrators at Yeshivath Shaar Hatorah Grodno could not be reached by the time this article was published.

Anyone with information related to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). All calls are strictly confidential.

I would have a couple of guys from Shomrim patrol the neighborhood until these incidents stop.

Hopefully there is security or other video footage that will provide enough information to facilitate the identification of the miscreant who committed this bigoted act.
